The Invivo Robotics product line is designed to provide surgeons with the capabilities of traditional open surgery while enabling them to operate through a few small incisions.
Our new Invivo Robotics Surgical System (IRSS) features a 3D HD vision system for a clear and magnified view inside the patient's body. The instruments bend and rotate far greater than the human wrist. The surgeon controls the System, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient's body. The technology allows surgeons to perform complex and routine procedures through a few small openings, similar to traditional laparoscopy.
The IRSS enables surgeons to perform delicate and complex operations through a few small incisions. The IRSS consists of several key components, including: an ergonomically designed console where the surgeon sits while operating, a patient-side cart where the patient is positioned during surgery, interactive robotic arms, a 3D HD vision system, and proprietary instruments.
IRSS is powered by robotic technology that allows the surgeon’s hand movements to be scaled, filtered and translated into precise movements of the instruments working inside the patient’s body.
Components of IRSS
Advanced Energy Instruments
Energy instruments are used by the IRSS surgeon to provide coagulation, cutting and dissection of tissues.
Grasping instruments are designed to grasp a wide range of tissues. There are instruments designed for fine, thin tissues, such as the peritoneum and instruments designed for dense, fibrous tissues, like the uterus.
Needle drivers provide the ability to suture with the finest of needles used in cardiovascular surgery as well as the thickest needles used in repair of uterine defects. Needle Drivers include an integral cutting blade for efficient cutting of suture after knot tying and increased surgeon autonomy and efficiency.
Retracting instruments allow the surgeon to dynamically provide exposure of the surgical field. This minimizes dependency on the patient-side assistant, providing the IRSS surgeon with full control of the operative field.
Other Specialized Instruments
Clip appliers, probe graspers, and cardiac stabilizers are available to allow the IRSS surgeon to perform specialized procedures such as vessel clipping, cryoablation, and beating-heart surgery.
A selection of 5mm Instruments provides the surgeon with the ability to use smaller access ports. Some surgeons prefer smaller access ports when performing pediatric, thoracic, bariatric, gynecologic, and general surgery.
Ease of Use
The Instruments are designed to be user-friendly in all aspects of surgery. After an instrument is mounted to IRSS, the interface is designed to recognize the type and function of the instrument, and display the number of uses. With this unique interface, the IRSS detects when an instrument needs replacing.
